There’s a
place in most rivers where the deep grows still, far downstream from youthful headwaters,
late in its journey to the sea. There’s a place where all these waters become
one and cease their struggle against the land. Here, in the deepest parts, the
river rests and considers itself, and the essence of all things it has known in
its journey comes to rest in this deep as well.
