Call Me By Your Name: Boring. Period.
The Shape of Water: Really? Are you kidding me? (This one, btw, received the most nominations).
The Post: It's a movie that people ought to see, if only to remind ourselves of how fragile our American freedoms can be--to remember that they have been under attack in the past, and are now under attack again. Other than the value of the history lesson and the warning to the wise, however, this isn't really much of a movie, as Oscar nominees go. In fact, it seems to have been a fairly bad year all around.
